DIFC Will
A DIFC Will costs AED 5,000 to 10,000 to register depending on scope — from a single Business Owners Will covering your company shares to a Full Will covering your entire UAE estate — and is available to any non-Muslim adult with UAE assets or minor children in Dubai or Ras Al Khaimah, regardless of your residency status. Without one, your UAE assets are distributed under Sharia inheritance principles by default, which frequently does not match what you would actually choose[cite: 10].
Why this matters even if you are not a UAE resident
20,000+ entrepreneurs served · 15+ years in the UAE market · 50+ specialists on the ground · Google 5.0 (89+ reviews)[cite: 10]

People assume DIFC Wills are only for UAE residents. They are not. Eligibility is based on holding UAE assets or having minor children based in Dubai or Ras Al Khaimah — not on where you personally live. If you own a company, property, or investments in the UAE from abroad, your UAE assets are still subject to UAE succession rules on your death unless you have registered a will that says otherwise. This is one of the more common gaps we find when reviewing a client overall structure — a Foundation or offshore company for asset protection, but no will covering how those assets pass on[cite: 10].
What it costs, by will type
| Will type | Single (AED) | Mirror, for couples (AED) | Covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full Will | 10,000 | 15,000 | Your entire UAE estate — property, financial assets, business interests, and guardianship together[cite: 10] |
| Property Will | 7,500 | 10,000 | UAE real estate specifically[cite: 10] |
| Business Owners Will | 5,000 | 7,500 | Shares or interests in a UAE company[cite: 10] |
| Financial Assets Will | 5,000 | 7,500 | Bank accounts, investments, and other financial holdings[cite: 10] |
| Guardianship Will | 5,000 | 7,500 | Naming guardians for minor children[cite: 10] |
| Digital Assets Will | 5,000 | 7,500 | Cryptocurrency, domain names, and other digital property[cite: 10] |
These are DIFC own registration fees. Our drafting and advisory fee for preparing the will content itself starts from AED 15,000 and is quoted separately, since it depends on the complexity of your estate and how many asset categories you are covering[cite: 10].
Who is eligible & Timeline
- You must not be Muslim and must never have been Muslim — this is DIFC stated eligibility rule, not ours[cite: 10]
- You must be at least 21 years old[cite: 10]
- You must hold UAE assets, or have minor children based in Dubai or Ras Al Khaimah[cite: 10]
- UAE residency is not required to register a DIFC Will[cite: 10]
Timeline
DIFC does not publish a fixed end-to-end processing time, because it depends on how complex your estate is, how many rounds of drafting corrections are needed, and appointment availability for the registration itself. Straightforward single-asset-category wills (a Business Owners Will covering one company, for instance) are typically ready to register within a couple of weeks of instructing us. A Full Will covering a more complex estate with property, multiple business interests, and guardianship provisions takes longer to draft properly — rushing this is the wrong place to save time[cite: 10].
What you will need to provide & Which will type do you actually need?
- Passport copy[cite: 10]
- A clear inventory of the UAE assets you want the will to cover — property titles, share certificates, bank account details as relevant to the will type chosen[cite: 10]
- Names and details of beneficiaries[cite: 10]
- For a Guardianship Will: names of proposed guardians and, where relevant, alternate guardians[cite: 10]
- Existing will documents from your home country, if any, so we can check for consistency rather than conflict between jurisdictions[cite: 10]
Which will type do you actually need?
If you own shares in a UAE company and that is your primary UAE asset, a Business Owners Will alone may be sufficient and considerably cheaper than a Full Will. If you hold property, financial assets, business interests, and have minor children, a Full Will consolidates all of it into one document rather than requiring several separate registrations — often working out similar in total cost to registering two or three narrower wills separately, with the advantage of one consistent document rather than several to keep track of. We will walk through your actual asset picture before recommending which structure fits, rather than defaulting to the most expensive option[cite: 10].
How it works, step by step
- Asset review. We go through what UAE assets and family circumstances the will needs to cover[cite: 10].
- Will type recommendation. Based on that review, we recommend the narrowest will type that covers everything you need, or a Full Will if your situation genuinely spans multiple categories[cite: 10].
- Drafting. We prepare the will content in line with DIFC required format[cite: 10].
- Review. You review the draft and request any changes before registration[cite: 10].
- DIFC registration appointment. We coordinate the registration appointment and accompany you through it[cite: 10].
- Registered will issued. You receive your registered DIFC Will, which we recommend reviewing again whenever your asset picture or family circumstances change materially[cite: 10].
